Current volunteers: login to the Volunteer Information Center
Volunteering at HSHV is a very rewarding experience! There are many roles you can play to aid the mission of the Humane Society of Huron Valley. (View a list of current opportunities.) As a nonprofit, private organization committed to finding permanent homes for the animals in our care and preventing cruelty to animals, we need the help of many volunteers to get our work done.
Basic requirements for volunteering include:
- You must be 18 or older for volunteer positions requiring direct contact with the animals.
- If you are 16-17 years old, you may volunteer for other activities like administrative or cleaning help.
- If you are 12-15 years old, you may volunteer working directly with a parent doing administrative or cleaning help. Your parent must also complete a volunteer application and attend a volunteer orientation.
**Please note, volunteers under 18 years of age will not have animal interaction. Parents must work with animals on their own and can not have a child accompany them.
Volunteer Orientations
All volunteers must first attend the Volunteer Orientation. This session gives you an overview of HSHV's philosophy and the volunteer assignments that may be currently available. Pre-registration for orientation IS required. To learn more volunteer assignments and to see the schedule of upcoming volunteer orientations, please see below.
For further information, or if you have questions about volunteering or the application process, please call our Volunteer Hotline at 734-662-5585, x300 or email volunteer@hshv.org.
