In March, I lost my best furiend, Heisman unexpectedly to cancer. He was only 7 years old, he was my “first” dog as an adult, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pupper. Heisman’s loss really shook me, and I struggled moving forward. I knew that we would adopt our next pup from the Love Train, and after a particularly difficult week coming home from vacation (to an empty house), a group arrived to HSHV from the Love Train. Without hesitation, we made our way to HSHV to find our new furbaby. I had an idea of who I was looking for before we arrived and at the request of my daughter, we were looking for a “girl dog”. Leia (American Eagle) was the first pup I chose and I was in love with her immediately. We had the option of interacting with up to 2 other pups but I couldn’t fathom having to choose. Leia is a cattle dog mix, a huge difference from our Golden Retriever, but somehow she is exactly what I needed her to be. Leia and my daughter have become best furiends, I love watching their bond grow closer! Leia wasn’t much of a snuggler, but she is slowly getting more snuggly and more confident of herself. I love our Leia Bean!
