On May 3rd (my birthday), my mom and I were scrolling the list of adoptable animals at Huron Valley. We were truthfully just looking at all the kitties names without thinking of adopting any as my father and I are allergic. However, when we saw Gopher’s photo we immediately knew we needed to know his story. Not much was known about his backstory other than he was really sick and had to have both eyes removed due to injury and infection. That was Friday, and at opening on Sunday morning we were there to meet Goph. He was still very sick and needed about another week and a half of medicines and such to be ready to come home. Since the day he arrived he’s been an absolute joy! He loves a good lap, pillow, couch cushion, basically anything that can be considered comfy. As for pets? He’d lay in your lap and purr for HOURS as long as he’s being touched. Chicken and fish are his favorites, and he’s not a fan of red meet or shellfish. His perfect day is sleeping for 20 hours and eating and cuddling for the other 4. Even though he’s totally blind, he still bops his way around the house no problem, and responds to his name with a bird chirp that will brighten your day every time.
While we’re still dealing with a couple health issues with him, thankfully nothing major, he’s still just a sweet baby in an old man body. He waddled his way into our lives and fit right in, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We love you Gopher Bug! Thank you for the daily laughs you give us. ❤️
