Our daughter has asked for a dog since she could talk.

She has had fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and hermit crabs, but we did not want a dog due to my husband’s dog allergy. Every Christmas and birthday, “dog” was at the top of her list. She walked other people’s dogs to be near them, visited pet stores and played with dogs, and would go on rescue sites daily. When the TV is on, there is a dog show on such as Pitbulls and Parolees.

Well a week ago, on a whim, I told her we could visit a dog she had seen on the website. We made it a family trip, with my husband saying, “We are just visiting.” On our first stop, we saw many cute dogs and headed to your facility to check out more. It was a busy day, and there were so many animals and people bustling around. We were greeted by a volunteer and helped by another volunteer. Both SO helpful and nice. Then a nice staff member let us walk Sebastian.

After the short walk, the staff member asked if we wanted him, and without hesitating my husband said, “Yes.” ?❤️He did not sneeze at all. It was meant to be. My daughter started bawling with happiness. Now Brody is a part of our family, and my daughter is researching colleges that allow dogs in the dorm? She is only fourteen?. It took a long time for us to commit to the idea of having a dog, but it happened when it was meant to, and we are so happy. Thank you, Humane Society of Huron Valley!
