Tabitha was supposed to be adopted the week that I came to the Tiny Lions Lounge & Adoption Center. We immediately fell in love with her and they told us the previous adoption fell through, so we ended up taking her home the following week! Her new name is Nairobi, and she was very timid at first but warmed up almost immediately. Now she has shown us her wild, awesome personality! Her favorite thing to do is to sit on my laptop while I’m in my Zoom meetings, or try and play with my hand while I’m taking notes. And

Best dog ever
We love our Maya so much. She has been such an incredible addition to our family. She’s so smart and playful and energetic. She loves hiking with us and she just fits in so well. Our young boys love to feed her, give her treats, keep an eye on her water bowl and include her in our outdoor adventures. We hope she is as happy living with us as we are to have her. So grateful for her! Ezri now Maya

Bountiful Birthdays
Keira and Isaac are amazing! Inspired by their love of all animals, but especially their adopted dog and cat, they celebrated their birthdays in the best way possible and asked for donations in lieu of gifts. They donated an awesome amount of food and toys for our HSHV animal residents! We are so grateful for their compassion and generosity. Thank you Keira and Isaac, and the happiest of birthdays to you both!

2 months and he has me wrapped around his finger
I adopted this little gremlin back in August and boy, was I not ready for how much I grew to adore him. He warmed up to me almost instantly, sleeping on me and demanding to be petted all the time. He lays on my desk all the time when I’m there, just laying down between me and the laptop for a nap. Though he can be a mischievous little gremlin that wakes me up at 3am by nibbling my feet or jumping on me, I’m so glad I took the chance and adopted him. Wiley now Marshmallow

Feisty cat makes herself at home
My children (13 & 8) adopted Luna after a separation and relocating to Ann Arbor. We had left behind our two guinea pigs and were looking for a fluffy friend to add to our family. We came to HSHV as a family to decide on who we should add to our home. I was initially drawn to Luna because of her coloring but fell for her feisty nature as she attempted to escape from her enclosure at HSHV as we visited with her. The staff was great about informing us about Luna’s past and personality, as well as sharing with

Children read to homeless animals, helping both
Ann Arbor, MI (October 13, 2020) – What would dogs like to read? Fortunately for our community’s kids, everything! “Rescue Reading,” a new program at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV), gives children the opportunity to practice their reading skills in front of a nonjudgmental audience: homeless animals. In turn, the animals receive extra attention and a calming experience with local little people. “It’s so heartwarming and a real win-win,” says Karen Patterson, a former elementary school teacher and VP of Humane Education and Volunteering at HSHV. “Research shows that children can improve their reading speed and accuracy by reading

Minnie adopted us
We brought our two grandkids with us to see how the dogs would be with them. The moment Minnie was with Jack and I, she was wanting to play and lick Jack. When Lucy came into the corral, same thing. She adopted us at that moment. She wanted to play with them the minute they walked in. She has been a wonderful addition! Life would not be the same without her. She has fallen in love with every family member and our friends. Skippy now Minnie

Pudgeroni, Her Royal Pudgliness, the Pudgester, Pudgeroodledoo, finds a home!
Pudge was a precious fluffy cuddle bug when we first met her at HSHV and purred the entire time we pet her. When we took her home she was an absolute wimp and hid in every dusty corner she could find. In the past few weeks she’s been getting a lot bolder and comfy with us and she’s now capable of fighting formidable foes like Mr. Mousey and Mr. Fishy, pictured here. We love having this precious little kitty around, and the house is her palace. She alternates between being a floppy puddle who only wants pets and an absolute

Feisty Feist loves his new home
We adopted Toby three weeks ago from HSHV. He is a Love Train puppy who was only 2.5 months old and about 6 lbs. He is growing fast and loving his sister pup, 6 yr old Abby (also an HSHV alumnus). He spends his days sleeping through many a Zoom meeting with his humans. He especially loves sitting on the couch with his 8th grader while he goes to school. We love watching him play, grow and become part of out family. Tobias (Toby)
