I adopted this little gremlin back in August and boy, was I not ready for how much I grew to adore him. He warmed up to me almost instantly, sleeping on me and demanding to be petted all the time. He lays on my desk all the time when I’m there, just laying down between me and the laptop for a nap. Though he can be a mischievous little gremlin that wakes me up at 3am by nibbling my feet or jumping on me, I’m so glad I took the chance and adopted him. Wiley now Marshmallow

Feisty cat makes herself at home
My children (13 & 8) adopted Luna after a separation and relocating to Ann Arbor. We had left behind our two guinea pigs and were looking for a fluffy friend to add to our family. We came to HSHV as a family to decide on who we should add to our home. I was initially drawn to Luna because of her coloring but fell for her feisty nature as she attempted to escape from her enclosure at HSHV as we visited with her. The staff was great about informing us about Luna’s past and personality, as well as sharing with

Minnie adopted us
We brought our two grandkids with us to see how the dogs would be with them. The moment Minnie was with Jack and I, she was wanting to play and lick Jack. When Lucy came into the corral, same thing. She adopted us at that moment. She wanted to play with them the minute they walked in. She has been a wonderful addition! Life would not be the same without her. She has fallen in love with every family member and our friends. Skippy now Minnie

Pudgeroni, Her Royal Pudgliness, the Pudgester, Pudgeroodledoo, finds a home!
Pudge was a precious fluffy cuddle bug when we first met her at HSHV and purred the entire time we pet her. When we took her home she was an absolute wimp and hid in every dusty corner she could find. In the past few weeks she’s been getting a lot bolder and comfy with us and she’s now capable of fighting formidable foes like Mr. Mousey and Mr. Fishy, pictured here. We love having this precious little kitty around, and the house is her palace. She alternates between being a floppy puddle who only wants pets and an absolute

Feisty Feist loves his new home
We adopted Toby three weeks ago from HSHV. He is a Love Train puppy who was only 2.5 months old and about 6 lbs. He is growing fast and loving his sister pup, 6 yr old Abby (also an HSHV alumnus). He spends his days sleeping through many a Zoom meeting with his humans. He especially loves sitting on the couch with his 8th grader while he goes to school. We love watching him play, grow and become part of out family. Tobias (Toby)

Frannie fills a space in my life I hadn’t even realized was so empty. A huge personality in a tiny calico body. I fell in love with her little face and knew when we met that she was the one. Like magic. Spot now Frannie

Gemma is home at last!
We had been searching for a puppy for months. When Gemma popped up on the website I filled out the application and raced to HSHV. We knew we had found our girl as soon as we met her. Her beautiful dual-colored eyes, her name (patron saint of scoliosis), and her goofiness were all we needed to fall in love. With some research, I have learned all that she went through to get to HSHV and it was a hard trip. Through it all, she is a smart girl and is happy to learn, play, and please. Training is bringing her

Penelope is thriving!!
My boyfriend and I adopted Penelope in 2017! She was only 3 months old when we met her. Her big eyes, sassy personality, and beautiful colors made us fall in love. She is a smart and sophisticated cat! Her favorites spots to chill are our shoulders, her cat tree, or our laps. Thank you HSHV for your dedication to animals ❤️ Penelope/Penny

“Shy kitten” no more!
We adopted Kili (formerly Lawrence, which we kept as his middle name) just over a year ago. We had a resident cat already, and felt she would do better adjusting to a kitten than an adult. My husband really wanted an all-gray kitten, and Kili instantly captured his heart. When we were going through the paperwork, they gave us a handout on how to socialize a “shy kitten”. Kili could not be further from a shy boy! He is always running around, annoying his sister, and wanting to meet everyone who comes in the door! He often chirps instead of
