I adopted Sasha (formerly Felicity) May 30th. I had started volunteering at HSHV in February and she was one of the first dogs to catch my eye, but I wasn’t ready for a dog yet. We adopted Mishmish (formerly Apple Bloom) on February 19th, 2023 from HSHV, hoping to find a friend for our resident cat, Yeimy! Very quickly, we realized that Mishmish had anxiety-induced aggression, severe territorial issues and lacked proper socialization. While this was extremely stressful, we worked with the vets at HSHV over the last 6 months to try and make this work for her, our resident cat and our family! In 2020, we were looking for an energetic cat to be a companion to our 1-year-old cat Curtis, since he constantly wanted to play and our other cat just wanted to be left alone. One year ago today (August 1), this sweet special needs senior walked into my heart and home. There have definitely been challenges with her multiple health issues, including two scary ER visits, yet Esther perseveres and shows an amazing will to live. I came to HSHV the day before Independence Day to look at adopting a dog for my birthday. We met Zoey and instantly fell in love! She is the sweetest dog and definitely has a sense of humor. Every day she has made us smile, laugh, and love her more and more. This past weekend we took her camping in Ludington, and she loved it! Car rides are one of her favorite activities and now she loves tent camping. Adopting Zoey was one of the best decisions!
