Wonderful Addition to the Family!

Since finding her furever home with our family over a year ago, Aurora has snuggled her way onto our laps and into our hearts! She is incredibly smart. She knows her toys: QueeK QueeK (the mouse), Potty Mouse (the catnip mouse that she often sits on), crinkly ball, pink ball, etc. She has also been known to bring them upon request. Aurora has a discerning palate, and truly seems to enjoy ginger broccoli — and to my chagrin — lemon-lime cookies that I left on the counter in a plastic Ziploc baggie! (Won’t do that again!) Aurora loves her sporadic

Purrrfect Edition

My name is Salena and I’m a college student at Eastern. I have a two and a half year old cat named Mimi who has always lived with other animals. She’s a very loving, social kitty. When my old roommate moved out she of course took her cat with her leaving Mimi without a playmate. I started coming to HSHV and hanging out with some of the adoptable cats, and after a few visits met Fanny Price (Now renamed Cici), an adorable little fluff ball with extra thumbs. I fell in love with her and decided to add her to

Dracula was found out a tree on October 30th 2013. Farley was 1 of 88 cats rescued from a hoarding situation in the early fall of 2013

When I first brought Farley home, he was very timid and afraid. He hid for about 2 weeks. So, I decided to adopt another cat to help him get over his fear. We adopted Dracula on Halloween night. He was so fun-loving and outgoing I thought he would be the perfect cat to help bring Farley out of his shell and learn to trust those around him, and Dracula has done just that.   Dracula and Farley

It’s true what they say, we don’t choose them–they choose us.

Our two 18 yr old girls (cats) recently passed away within 6 months of each other. They were our fur kids in a most deep sense. My husband was more than ready to have an animal back in the house, and I was still resistant. In Ann Arbor, from out of town with a few hours to kill, we decided to go to Tiny Lions “just to pet some cats” and nothing more. Hahaaa, sure. When this little fur ball strutted up the cat tree and plopped down right at eye level, I quietly looked at his name tag, and

I wanted a puppy. Well….

10 years ago this week, on a cold and snowy Ann Arbor day, I walked into the Humane Society of Huron Valley with the intention of adopting a high energy little puppy to be my running buddy. Since this would be my first adoption, I brought along my mom with me for help. Of course I was immediately drawn to all the nippy little pups who clearly were not house broken. My mom, however, kept telling me to look in the kennel by the door. As I looked over, I’m sure I rolled my eyes as I told my mom

A miracle Story

My husband and I just got married back in October 2016. We’d moved into our new house, and we really wanted to add a little fur member to our little family. We both agreed we wanted to adopt because we love animals so much and see so many are in need of homes it breaks our hearts. So in early February on a Friday night, my husband found one black and tan coonhound which we loved. So I told him I would go the next day and check her out. I drove 2 hours just to see her to find

Parvo pup

We rescued Enzo back in May 2017. He had been surrendered and had parvo. He had spent his time in isolation there and was scared of everything when we first got him. Now he loves car rides, going to the dog park and meeting new humans. We can’t wait to rescue a sibling for him.   Kingston now Enzo

The sweetest Kitty Ever

I adopted Savanah (formerly Cassie) as a kitten in 2012. She is the quietest and sweetest cat. She joined her sister Junebee, and they are a perfect match!

New Year, New Friend

We brought 8-year-old Rachel home from Tiny Lions on New Year’s Eve. She has made herself comfortable and is now ruling the roost. What a terrific way to start 2018.
