It’s been some time since I’ve had cats, but I’ve always loved them. I’ve had cats in my life, for most of my life. My last two cats were sisters that I adopted from a friend who had been their foster mother. When I went to adopt the one cat, I saw the other and couldn’t bear to split them up, so I ended up with both. They were in my life for 19 and 20 years. Fast forward 10 years later, that itch to get a new cat was just waiting to be scratched. I found myself frequently visiting Tiny Lions more and more, enjoying my time playing with all of those kittens. A different friend of mine fosters kittens for HSHV, and her latest batch had just been put up for adoption, and each of them were snatched up very quickly. They too were at Tiny Lions, and it was great to visit them (especially since I had met them before they had arrived). I decided to put my name in as a back-up should an adoption fall through. It did for Charlie (the super cute little runt of the litter). He couldn’t go home with me just yet, he had to finish up his treatment for a little cold he had, so I called the shelter every couple days to check on him. One day when I called, I was surprised to hear that his litter mate and best buddy, Professor Bliss, had been returned by his adopter and was now spending time with Charlie. The two cats were so happy to be back together again! Well when I heard this, I found myself in the same situation that I did with my two cats from long ago — there is no way that I could split them up. Today, Charlie and Chance (who was renamed from Professor Bliss because we were his second chance adoption) are both at home with me and my family, surrounded by lots of love and way too many toys (yes, they are as spoiled as a mom’s first newborn baby!).
