Waitlist Information
Vaccines and microchips will be first-come, first-served, and while supplies last. Check-in starts at 9am. Vaccinations will go in client order as indicated by the waitlist and will start at approximately 9:30am. The waitlist cut-off time is 11am, or as determined by vaccine availability and capacity. We will NOT add anyone to the waitlist after 11am.
Please be prepared to spend the day at the clinic site, as we are unable to predict wait times. At previous clinics, wait times were two hours or more.
How it works
- Please bring any previous vaccination records with you. When you arrive, park in any of the available parking spaces. Ensure your pets are safe in your vehicle and have appropriate ventilation.
- Proceed to the “Check-In Line Starts Here” banner. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. Please line up in an orderly manner and be respectful of fellow attendees.
- Once you are checked in by HSHV staff/volunteers and added to our virtual waitlist, you’ll return to your car to complete the required vaccination forms (one form per pet). Our veterinary staff will review all documentation to ensure your pet is receiving the appropriate vaccination(s).
- To prevent crowding and animal stress, please stay in your car (or in the designated waiting area if on foot) until it is your turn. You’re welcome to visit the community program tables, free pet supplies, and the nail groomer while you wait.
- When it is your turn for vaccinations, you will be notified by text message or email, depending on the information you provided at check-in. Remain in your vehicle and proceed to the Friends for Life logo banner on the north side of the parking lot to drive up to the vaccination site.
- To allow us to help as many dogs and cats as safely and stress-free as possible, please do not approach the vaccination site until it is your turn, and follow all instructions provided by staff and volunteers.
- Vaccines will be administered outside under covered awnings or inside in a secure room (per the discretion of our staff).
- After vaccinations, you can take your pet(s) to the back of the parking lot for their free nail trim.
Have more questions not answered here? Please call Friends for Life at 734-661-3550 or email ffl@hshv.org. Vaccine specific questions should be directed to the HSHV clinic at 734-662-4365.
What if I’m still waiting in the check-in line at the 11am cut-off time? Can I still get my pets vaccinated?
We will not allow any vehicle traffic into the parking lot starting at 11am. If you are waiting on foot to check-in when the line cuts off at 11am, we can still add you to the waitlist, however, we cannot guarantee we will be able to vaccinate your pet(s). Vaccines are first-come, first-served, and while supplies last. Veterinary staff will be on-site until 4pm, but please note we may run out of supplies before being able to vaccinate your animal(s), and therefore the waitlist may close before 11am.
What if I can’t make it to the clinic in time?
Our waitlist cut-off time is 11am sharp (or as determined by vaccine availability and capacity). You’re welcome to attend our Lost-Cost Vaccine Clinics which are offered at least once a month, at our shelter in Ann Arbor. Free vaccine clinics are offered twice a year, and dates will be posted on the Friends for Life website when available.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT VACCINE CLINICS:
Vaccination Clinics can be difficult for animals who are nervous, anxious, or aggressive in new or high activity environments, or who don’t like to be around other pets or people.
If your dog or cat is not able to be handled safely, or your dog or cat is not treatable or is sick, pregnant, or has other health issues, services (including vaccinations and nail trims) are not be able to be provided.
Additionally, you may be asked to schedule an Outpatient appointment during our regular business hours so that we can better service your pet. If your pet has previously had an adverse effect in response to vaccination, please call our clinic for an appointment.
This clinic, by law, does not meet the criteria for a “veterinary exam,” and does not count as one. If your pet needs a full exam, but there are financial issues that make this challenging, please talk to a team member about ways we can help make things work for you and your pet.
