My wife and I lost our wonderful red heeler, Rose, last year. She was a rescue from AuCaDo up north and when we made the decision to get another pup we knew we wanted to adopt again. We met several dogs through HSHV but it was so difficult to make a decision. One of my wife’s coworkers suggested making a list of the top traits that we considered important and the next time we went in to walk a few dogs one of the wonderful HSHV workers recommended that we meet Lily, who was Jolie at the time. She was being fostered just around the corner from us in Ypsi and while she might have been a bit over the top in the exuberance category she was exactly what we were looking for. Lily has been a blessing to our house. She’s excellent with all the people she meets and very even keeled with the other dogs she’s met. She’s super smart and trainable, and for all of her energy (which is a megaton!) she’s super cuddly and loves her some couch time. We did a DNA test on her and it came back 50% pit (natch) and 50% Great Pyrenees!

We wanted to thank HSHV again for the opportunity to adopt Lily and for everything they do for animals in Washtenaw county, especially all the wonderful and kind staff and volunteers!
