We have had Mollie for a year, and she is just not adapting to our home. We adopted her from the Taylor animal shelter back in December of 2023 with very little knowledge of her background. She came to the shelter in a cat carrier and was left outside of their back door in the middle of the night, with no information provided, so we don’t know if she was a stray that someone caught and just dropped off. She is believed to be about 3 years old according to the vet that she was taken to when she was at the shelter. Mollies was spayed during her time at the Taylor animal shelter. Her features tell me that she is possibly mixed with Maine Coon, but not sure of this. She loves to be petted, but only for a few minutes. She is very shy which tells me that she has had very little human interaction. She will eat snacks out of my hand but will not come right up to me. If you are able to pick her up, she clings to you, which tells me that she have either been abused, or again maybe was an outside cat. She may do well as a barn cat, or a cat that loves to be indoors as well as outdoors. We found that she does not do good with dogs but does well with other cats as we have a 5-year-old male that she has become very fond of. She would probably do good in a home where she can just be independent.
