I met Nora on February 18th, 2024. I had been thinking about adopting a cat and went to HSHV several times to look around. Every kitty there was adorable and sweet in their own way – but I was waiting to get that special “feeling” when I met a cat!

As soon as I sat down and opened the cage to visit with Nora, she crawled right into my lap, I started crying, and I knew I had to adopt my little girl.

Every day since then has brought a new kind of joy into my life. Nora truly is my little best friend (who waits at the door for me when I get home!). She also loves to sleep on the pillow next to me at night, and it’s gotten to the point where it’s easier to fall asleep when I hear her little snores beside me. There is no day bad enough that a snuggle with her can’t fix! She is incredibly friendly, gentle, and cuddly with nearly everyone she meets. If you start petting her, she won’t let you stop. She also has her own special playful and mischievous side as well! I know I’m biased, but I also think she’s just the most beautiful little girl cat I’ve ever seen. I wonder if friends and family get tired of seeing so many new Nora pictures…but I can’t help it. I can’t imagine things now without my Nora, and I’m so glad this year brought her into my life.

I’d like to thank everyone at HSHV for helping me meet my “soul cat”. The employees, volunteers, and donors are crucial in making sure this experience is possible for me and for many others. And for anyone who’s considering adopting a cat right now, I encourage you to not shy away from looking at the adult/senior cats. At 7 years old, Nora was one of the older cats at HSHV. But I’m so glad I took a chance and looked at cats who were older and had been waiting to get adopted for longer. You never know who you might meet…
