November, 2010 … I brought home Uffda (formerly Puma) from HSHV. I had been told by the adoption counselor that he did not get along with other cats and that he should be an only cat for life. One thing is for certain — he has lots of love to give and is going to continue to get all kinds of loving for life.

A couple of years later, we moved to Massachusetts. My lifestyle here is not much different than what it was in Michigan, but my neighbors here reported seeing Uffda in an upstairs window yowling for some company.

Several trips to the local shelter later, I finally bring home a suitable housemate for Uffda in the form of Igor. Yes, it took a long time and a lot of patience, but Uffda has become very fond of Igor. They play games together, snooze together, and as an added bonus, Uffda helps Igor keep his face clean … in a word, he’s pretty happy with this arrangement. Furthermore, he doesn’t spend his time trying to call the neighbors over anymore.

If you wanted to see something funny, it was the visit to the vet for their well-kitty checkups this summer. Both cats were out of their carriers and were free to walk around on the exam table. They promptly went into love-fest mode with tails up, loud purring, bumping into each other, washing faces, the works. The vet and I stepped back and enjoyed the show — this was the first time in her career she had seen a feline love-fest in an exam room and she had been practicing medicine for over a decade.
